Matthew H. Huffman was born in Lima, Ohio and graduated high school from Lima Central Catholic. He attended the University of Dayton as an undergraduate, where he double majored in accounting and finance and graduated cum laude. After graduating from the University of Dayton, Matthew became licensed as a Certified Public Accountant and worked as an Audit Associate with Deloitte & Touche.
In 2013 Matthew left public accounting to attend law school at the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where he was an associate member of the Law Review and a volunteer in both the Entrepreneurship and Community Development Clinic and the Income Tax Assistant program. Matthew graduated magna cum laude from law school and was named a member of the Order of the Coif and the Dean’s Honor List.
Matthew focuses his legal practice in the areas of corporate law and civil litigation, including personal injury and wrongful death cases. In his corporate law practice, Matthew focuses on serving private, closely held and/or family-owned businesses as their outside general counsel and trusted advisor on all legal and risk issues. He provides timely, practical, strategic, and value-added advice on various issues and opportunities regularly faced by closely held companies in the areas of business formation, commercial transactions, contract drafting and negotiation, succession planning, business divorces, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and litigation and dispute resolution. Matthew takes a proactive approach on identifying and providing innovative solutions impacting his clients’ continued development and success. Throughout all areas of his practice, he uses his broad legal and financial background to resolve complicated issues in a practical manner.
Prior to joining HK&B, Matthew worked for the Cincinnati law firm of Frost Brown Todd. He and his wife, Paige (a Shawnee High School alum), and their children, Grace, Henry, Archie, and George, can typically be found enjoying one of Lima’s local parks or downtown establishments.
